Designed identity and web site for new food blogger, and implemented my design as a set of custom templates and a custom style in Movable Type 4.0 (Open Source Edition).

Can Do

|

Can Do is a collection of small steps everyone can take to enact positive change in the environment. It is based on the belief that a community of people interested in taking some of these steps together can be a powerful motivating tool, and empower us with the knowledge of our collective impact.

I developed the concept of Can Do in conjunction with a class called Zones of Emergency: Participatory Networks in the Spring of 2008, which was meant to explore the way online social networks can react to real-life situations. The course was taught in sister sections at both MIT and RISD.

My fully-functional site is still a work in progress, but you can wander through the working demo, or read the process documentation.

risd|store

|
In the process of migrating the risd:store website from a proprietary ColdFusion shopping cart to an open source e-commerce package, I redesigned the front entry page to guide shoppers to featured products or sale items, using modular buckets that could be rotated by the site administrator.
Note: The overall navigation of the site was an existing design, so have not included it in this portfolio. Feel free to visit the existing store to see the full site.

[recent news] inspired type face

This summer I was lucky enough to spend a week in the mountains of North Carolina, in a little slice of heaven known as Montreat College near Asheville. One of my favorite structures on campus is the stone bridge at the entrance, and I am in the process of creating a type face inspired by the lettering incorporated into the stonework.
