Books

Da Vinci's Notebooks

|
Hand-bound book utilizes two distinct typographic voices to differentiate between Leonardo and the translator. To illustrate Da Vinci's penchant for secrecy and codes, certain phrases are tucked into hidden folds scattered through the book.

Interactive|Obsolete

|
A book, set of cards, and specially-designed box exploring the physical and conceptual possibilities of edge-notched card systems and the idea of the obsolete. This project was documented in the Select*d Collections, a publication of projects from the spring Graduate Studio at RISD, for which I also contributed the preface.

Garamond Postcards

|
A series of six postcards aimed at educating the general public about Claude Garamond. The five postcards, along with the blank lining of their wraparound enclosure, combine to form the infamous Garamond "g."

Vintage Soda

|
A survey of color use in soda packaging. After acquiring a sizable collection of vintage soda labels, I analyzed the implications of the most common colors found across the group, and then produced a book of my findings. (After a chance enounter on flickr, the final book was submitted to -- I kid you not -- Soda Pop Dreams Magazine for publication.)

[recent news] inspired type face

This summer I was lucky enough to spend a week in the mountains of North Carolina, in a little slice of heaven known as Montreat College near Asheville. One of my favorite structures on campus is the stone bridge at the entrance, and I am in the process of creating a type face inspired by the lettering incorporated into the stonework.
