We installed our work in the convention center yesterday, part of a series of preparations in anticipation of the Graduate Thesis show that will open this Thursday. I set up a camera and tripod and made a couple makeshift videos of the event!

The Big Three-Oh
I turned thirty this week, and it was not at all the traumatic experience I was fearing. Instead, I took a nice, leisurely day to myself on the actual day, and then had a whole week of scattered lunches, dinners, coffees, drinks, etc, with various friends. It was pretty … Read More →
Spring Break!
Well, its finally Spring Break here at RISD. My last spring break for the foreseeable future, unless I become a professor somewhere! Thesis year people are “strongly encouraged” to stay in town for the week, which really means there will be hell to pay if we attempt … Read More →
Snow Day
School is cancelled today because of the 8 – 12 inches of snow we’re supposed to get, and even though I don’t have any classes until tomorrow afternoon, that still means I am entitled to slack off and write a blog post! I’m hoping this week’s blizzard is the final last … Read More →
Brown 27, Cornell 7
Today I attended a good old fashioned ivy league football game, and luckily Brown beat Cornell at home 27 to 7, in front of a spirited crowd. The weather was crisp, the hot dogs delicious, and the football was fast-paced and entertaining! The photo above is a panorama I made … Read More →

This week I tried out two cool services: Ponoko and Spoonflower. Both are new entries in a little niche called desktop manufacturing, where you can design something at your home computer and have it fabricated in small quantities without sacrificing quality or paying heavy setup fees. Start _______ Here
I started my last year of graduate school on Wednesday, and the campus is a whirlwind of activity as we welcome a new provost, inaugurate a new president, and (next week) open a shiny new academic building. There is an optimistic energy around the school these days, and I am … Read More →
Some more eye candy
So even with the ridiculously easy goal of posting once a day for the rest of May, I didn’t actually post every day. For shame. But its the summer now, and I (theoretically) have time to do stuff like put up some of my favorite stuff from … Read More →
Commencement 2008
Today was the 125th commencement of the Rhode Island School of Design. I didn’t have a camera with me, but as luck would have it, President Maeda was taking pictures of it from the stage and posting them on the RISD flickr account. How cool is that? … Read More →
Campus Podcasts
Our soon-to-be president has been busy these last few weeks, touring the campus and producing a series of ad-hoc podcasts of various final crits across campus. Its a neat way to experience the unique atmosphere of this place, and perhaps explore what motivates so many people here … Read More →

Everywhere at Once: Narrative Multiplicity and the Digital Archive
Its taken me a while to be able to sit down and write a summary about finishing grad school, but here it is in a nutshell: I’m done! :) That convoluted thing you see above was the title, and basically it meant that I was thinking about how technology … Read More →
