Art Class!
Tonight I start my latest art class at the Torpedo Factory. I feel into an old familiar routine this morning - gathering all my art supplies, locating the supply list that I still need to buy, packing dinner and a change of clothes so I don't get charcoal all over my work stuff. I'm very excited! I hope I haven't regressed since my last class. It was, after all, almost a year ago. I guess we'll have to see!
This weekend was very relaxed and mellow. I puttered around my apartment Friday night. I came home from work and immediately fell asleep for two hours. Then I woke up, chatted on the phone a bit, and of course couldn't go to sleep until 2am. I popped awake at 8am Saturday, as usual.
Saturday night Adam and I ventured to the Reston Town Center to catch dinner and a movie. After wandering around for a while, we finally settled on Paolo's, a casual Italian eatery with a few locations in DC. All I have to say is, what an excellent meal! I chose a char-grilled filet mignon, which came to my table piping hot and cooked to a textbook medium rare, served on a bed of fingerling potatoes and gorganzola walnut asparagus. The whole dish was liberally doused with a peppered red wine jus that added a wonderful spicy, smoky flavor. Paired off with an equally spicy glass of barbera, from an Argentinian winery called Elsa, the meal was heavenly. Adam seemed to agree as well as he enjoyed his heaping plate of shrimp and pasta. We took a raincheck on the movie (Under the Tuscan Sun - still want to see it!) since it was late and the food had made us pleasantly sleepy. So we lingered over our dessert of orange-topped creme brulee and coffee, and then it was off to bed. :)
